Caddell & Chapman is investigating customer complaints about the continuously variable transmission (CVT) in Nissan cars and trucks. Nissan knows it has a problem with the CVT transmission system. Nissan transmission problems have surfaced in many of its vehicles, and Nissan has extended the warranty on the transmission for many vehicle models. However, Nissan customers are reporting transmission problems with newer model vehicles, such as the Nissan Quest, which fall outside of Nissan’s extended warranty. Caddell & Chapman is investigating the filing of a class action complaint to compel Nissan to extend the warranty and repair the CVT transmission in newer models of Nissan vehicles.
The CVT transmission in Nissan vehicles has been the repeated subject of class action litigation with consumers seeking warranty repairs for the defective transmission system. In response to those cases and to address the public outcry, Nissan extended its warranty on the continuously variable transmission in many models of its vehicles for the model years 2003 to 2010. In these older vehicles, Nissan extended the warranty on the transmission to 10 years or 120,000 miles.
Based on customer complaints, Caddell & Chapman has learned that problems with the CVT transmission system extend to Nissan vehicles from more recent model years, such as the 2013 Nissan Quest. The transmission is already the subject of class action lawsuits for the 2012-2013 Nissan Versa, 2013-2014 Nissan Pathfinder, the 2013-2014 Infiniti QX60, and 2014 Nissan Sentra. Nissan should accept responsibility for the defective transmission system in its vehicles, including those listed above and also the Nissan Quest, and Nissan should expand its warranties on the continuously variable transmissions to more recent model years.
